Nokia X10 Symbian S^3 QWERTY slider revealed in leaked documentation?

Some supposed Nokia X10 “release documents” have been caught on video and are now making their presumably illicit way around the web. Of course, this would be pretty trivial to fake, so do please put on your skepticism pants before reading further. The docs detail a QWERTY sliders handset dubbed the X10, a seeming followup to Nokia’s capacitive-equipped X6, but which runs Symbian S^3. In fact, it claims to be the first phone to do so, with a ARM Cortex A8 600MHz processor to help it out in such a mission, along with 256MB of RAM, 32GB or 16GB of internal storage and a 3.2-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. The 5 megapixel camera listed is a far cry from the 12 megapixel N87 flagship that Nokia’s said to be prepping for this new OS, but we’re happy to see a front-facing camera for 15 fps video calls. Don’t believe a word of it? We hardly blame you, and you can check out the video for yourself after the break to confirm or allay your suspicions.

MTube Android MID streams media to the TV and back via touchscreen (video)

MTube, known most famously in these parts for its diminutive, WiMAX-sportin’ media player, seems to be putting some time and effort into Android as of late. While the MTube II hybrid Android / XP / tablet / netbook has certainly inspired its share of techno-lust, the Android MID hits us where it counts: in front of the television. The unholy union of a handheld and a multimedia controller, this guy lets you drag and drop video from the device to your TV, stream media to the TV or vice versa, and transfer files between multiple MTubes — all this in addition to the core functionality of the OS. Details are still scant: although we know it’s rocking an ARM Processor, a 7.6-inch 800 x 480 capacitive touchscreen OLED, and Android 1.6, there’s no word on storage or memory, or even how the video is streamed (we think that WiFi might be a good guess). As it stands, the thing is most certainly not ready for prime time (as becomes painfully obvious when the system crashes at 1 minute 45 seconds), but as a taste of things to come we’re definitely intrigued. Peep the video after the break to see for yourself.

MPIO V7 PMP hits October 26th, 2009, we struggle to contain ourselves

It’s been a pretty long while since we heard anything from MPIO — so this is certainly good news. The V7 — a 3-inch PMP which will apparently boast a (possibly capacitive) touchscreen LCD, an accelerometer, and an FM radio, at a thickness in the neighborhood of 10.5mm. We also know that it’ll come in both 4GB and 8GB varieties — but specs beyond this are sadly absent. We’ll see what else we can dig up for you, but look for it to run ₩129,000 for the 4GB model and ₩159,000 ($109 and $134, respectively) for the 8 when it launches on Korea on October 26th.

Fujitsu’s multitouch LIFEBOOK T4310 tablet makes quick work of Microsoft’s Touch Pack

If Fujitsu was going for sexy, it certainly missed the mark with the LIFEBOOK T4310, one of the least attractive machines of its kind, but where the T4310 tablet falls short on style, it certainly makes up for with its excellent multitouch-friendly capacitive touchscreen. Playing with Windows 7’s new touch features, it almost seems feasible to use the OS with a finger (gasp!), and the screen can also accept pen input (based on pressure-sensitive Wacom technology) when your blunt jabs aren’t getting the job done. The multitouch prowess is most evident using Microsoft’s Surface-inspired Touch Pack applications, which come pre-installed, but it’s also a nice way to get around in Internet Explorer. Other perks of the machine include a 360-degree rotating hinge, a hot-swappable drive bay, and all the internal accouterments (SSD, 3G) one could ask for. Video demo is after the break.

Nokia X6 is Stunningly Beautiful, Facebook Ready

nokia_x6Finnish mobile giant Nokia has introduced several new mobile devices at the Nokia World conference held in Stuttgart, Germany. Judging by its amazing design, Nokia X6 is the highlight of the lot: it will definitely make heads turn, but it’s quite powerful when it comes to features, too.

By specifications, it seems to be a successor to the music-oriented Nokia 5800: it also has a 3.2” resistive capacitive touchscreen, and other features include a 5-megapixel camera, 32 GB of storage, and 35 hours of music playback. It’s all nice and dandy, but what really caught our eye in the official press release is Nokia’s commitment to bring social networking and media to their smartphones. From the PR:

“With direct access to Ovi Store, the Nokia X6 is a hive of activity that brings 20 friends and virtual communities, like Facebook, to your homescreen.”

Nokia has also introduced a new social friendly feature called Lifecasting with Ovi; it lets you publish your location and status updates directly to Facebook from the home screen of the phone:

“Lifecasting goes beyond just publishing your status – it is about building deeper and closer connections between people. It triggers new kinds of communication patterns, such as sending messages or status updates or even navigating to a friend or a place. Lifecasting will premiere on the new Nokia N97 mini, companion to the successful Nokia N97.”

It took them a while, but Nokia has finally caught up to the fact that having a feature-packed phone is only half of the equation. Giving your users access to content and enabling them to connect and share with others is equally important, and their latest lineup delivers the goods. Read the full press release here.

Here are a couple of photos that’ll make any gadget lover’s mouth water:
